Breaking news! Breaking news!

Paul of Tarsus beheaded in Rome!

Read all about it!

Get your Tarsus Chronicle here!

If you grew up in Tarsus
before AD 33

And like your Dad before you,
you were a Pharisee

Then only one thing counted
and nothing mattered more

Than your absolute obedience
to the Jewish Law!

Picture

Be sure to follow the Jewish Law
Obey the rules and  nothing more

When judgment comes you   can expect
To be a member of God's elect

Saul, Saul,  why do you persecute me?

Saul, Saul,
Why do you persecute me?

Saul, Saul,
Why do you persecute me?

Why do you persecute me?

The Lord came to Saul

Oh my Lord,
Oh my Lord!

Jesus came to Saul

Oh my Lord,
Oh my Lord!

Picture

Picture
Picture

He laid his hands on Saul
Who found  his sight restored
And  filled with Holy Spirit
Began to praise the Lord

Picture

Back in Jerusalem both Christians and Jews
were troubled and perplexed when they heard the news.

Was Saul's conversion a  real change of heart?

Or was it just a cunning ruse?

Picture
Picture

It can't be right! It can't be true! People like that don't change their tune!

Well you just pack your bag
You get on the road

You're carrying the Word
And that's the lightest of loads!

Picture

You're on, you're on,
you're on the road!

Paul  was the first to really recognize that Christ wanted this to be a faith open to all people; Roman, Samaritan, Greek, Jew, Egyptian, whatever.

The only requirement was to have faith and believe.

It started with the Galatians
though the question was being raised by other nations

Was it an important part of the decision
to have to go through circumcision?

Was it necessary for  your Christian credentials
to have a bit chopped off your essentials?

Don't have to be a Jewish boy
to find yourself some heavenly joy!

Which left amongst the church's strongest defenders
some greatly relieved Gentile

MEMBERS!!

It's so hard this  road I travel
It's so hard this cross I bear
Didn't  realize when I started
How much pain I'd have to bear.

Why do I survive?
What makes me strong?

Maybe with endurance
I prove them wrong.

Picture

And when Paul couldn't travel; he wrote...

Picture

He wrote to Pergamon and Syracuse and Smyrna and Troas; Phrygia and Bithnia and Athens and Nicea; Calabria and Byblus and Carthage and Messina; Pontus and Brindisi and a brace to Thrace!

Welcome to Jerusalem, Jewish city.   Home of the law and Jewish authority.

No place for  Paul with his Gentile philosophy.

Left right, left right
Left right, left right,

Welcome to the heavyweights of this region
No one messes with a Roman legion!

I am a Roman citizen from Cilicia

And appeal my case unto Caesar!

Breaking news!
Breaking news!

Paul of Tarsus arrested and sent for execution.

It seems Paul was caught
in  the Roman net;

No chance to plead his cause
he died a martyr's death.

In death he lit a light
that's with us  yet.

Picture

Oh blessed Paul!

It was your work
It was your strife

Gave
Christian church
Eternal life.

Picture

Hey sinner will you listen, don't dare argue with the Lord
There just ain't no point resistin' when the king has called!
Yeah, when the king has called, yeah when the king has called
There ain't no point resistin' when the king has called!

Picture

Congratulations! And thanks to all who took part
and all who came to watch  us!
